History
Formed in 1848 from Milam County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Williamson County was created from Milam County on March 13, 1848, and fully organized later that year on August 7. In 1852, the county lost territory to the creation of Burnet County, but in 1853 it gained territory from Bell County. In 1856, Williamson exchanged small areas with Bastrop County.
