History
Formed in 1876 from Jack County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Lamb County was created from Young Territory in 1876 but was not fully organized, remaining attached to Jack County for judicial and other purposes until 1881. Over the following decades, Lamb County was attached for judicial purposes to Baylor County (1881), Crosby County (1887), Hale County (1889), and Castro County (1892). The county became fully organized and independent in 1908.
