History
Formed in 1876 from Young County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Kent was created from Young Territory on 19 November 1876 but was not fully organized and was attached to Young. Over the following years, Kent was attached to different counties for judicial purposes: Throckmorton in 1881, Mitchell in 1883, and Scurry in 1885. Kent was finally fully organized and detached from Scurry on 8 November 1892.
