History
Formed in 1876 from Jack County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Potter County was not fully organized at its creation in 1876 and was attached to Jack County for judicial and other purposes. Between 1879 and 1881, Potter was successively attached to Wheeler County and then Oldham County for judicial purposes. Potter became fully organized in 1887 and was detached from Oldham County. In 1889, Moore, Randall, and Sherman counties were attached to Potter for judicial purposes, though Sherman, Randall, and Moore were each fully organized and detached in subsequent months.
