History
Formed in 1887 from Tom Green County and Midland County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Crane County was created from Tom Green County in 1887 but was not fully organized at that time, instead being attached to Midland County for judicial, surveying, and other purposes. In 1903, the county was detached from Midland and attached to Ector County for judicial and surveying purposes. Crane County was fully organized and became independent in 1927 when it was detached from Ector County.
