History
Formed in 1885 from Tom Green County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Midland County was created on March 4, 1885, from Tom Green County but was not fully organized until June 15, 1885. In 1887, Crane, Ector, and Upton counties were created from Tom Green County and attached to Midland for administrative purposes. Ector County was fully organized and detached in 1891, Upton County in 1910, and Andrews County (which had been attached and detached multiple times) in 1910.
