History
Founded in 1876
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
McCulloch County was created on August 27, 1856, from the Bexar Land District, though it was not initially fully organized. The county was attached to San Saba County for judicial purposes in 1860, then fully organized and detached from San Saba in 1876. Concho County was attached to McCulloch for judicial purposes in 1876 and remained so until Concho was fully organized and detached in 1879.
