History
Founded in 1858
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Edwards County was created from Bexar Land District in 1858 but was not fully organized at that time. For several decades after its creation, Edwards County was attached to neighboring counties for judicial purposes, including Bandera, Uvalde, and Kerr. In 1883, Edwards County became fully organized and was detached from Kerr County. In 1887, Edwards County gained land from Crockett County, and in 1913, it lost land to the creation of Real County.
