An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Starr County was created from Nueces County on February 10, 1848, though it was not fully organized until August 7, 1848. Over time, the county lost territory: to Zapata in 1858, to Duval and Nueces in 1870, and to Brooks in 1911.
