An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Armstrong County was created from Jack Territory on November 19, 1876, but initially remained unorganized and attached to Jack County for judicial and administrative purposes. The county was transferred for judicial purposes to Wheeler County in 1879, then to Donley County in 1883, before finally becoming fully organized and independent in 1890.
