History
Founded in 1858
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Runnels County was created in 1858 from the Bexar Land District and Travis Land District but was not fully organized at that time. The county remained attached to Brown County for judicial purposes beginning in 1860, then to Coleman County in 1876, until it was finally fully organized and detached in February 1880.
