History
Formed in 1856 from Coryell County and Bell County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Lampasas County was created on February 1, 1856, from Non-County Area 17 attached to Coryell County, from a small area of Bell County, and from Travis Land District, though it was not fully organized until March 10, 1856. The county lost territory in 1858 when Hamilton County was created from it, and again in 1887 when Mills County was formed from Lampasas.
