History
Formed in 1876 from Young County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Dickens County was created from Young Territory on November 19, 1876, but was not fully organized and remained attached to Young County for judicial, surveying, and other purposes. The county was subsequently attached to Baylor County in 1881, then to Crosby County in 1887, before being fully organized and detached in 1891.
