History
Formed in 1876 from Jack County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Swisher County was created from Young Territory on November 19, 1876, but remained unorganized and was attached to Jack County for all purposes. Over the following years, Swisher was detached and reattached to different counties for judicial purposes: Jack County in 1876, then Wheeler County in 1879, Oldham County in 1881, Donley County in 1883, and Hale County in 1889. The county became fully organized and detached from Hale County on July 17, 1890.
