History
Formed in 1876 from Jack County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Carson County was created from Bexar Territory and Young Territory on November 19, 1876, but was not fully organized at that time and was attached to Jack County for judicial, surveying and all other purposes. Over the following years, Carson was attached to and detached from several neighboring counties for judicial purposes: Wheeler County in 1879, Donley County in 1883, and Wheeler again briefly, before being fully organized and detached from Donley County on June 29, 1888.
