History
Formed in 1846 from Jackson County and Victoria County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Calhoun County was created on April 4, 1846 from parts of Jackson and Victoria counties, but was not fully organized until September 22, 1846. The county gained territory from Victoria and Refugio counties through boundary adjustments between 1856 and 1871, and in 1947 its boundaries were extended to the continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico.
