History
Formed in 1876 from Young County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Garza County was created from Young Territory on November 19, 1876, but remained unorganized and attached to Young County for judicial and administrative purposes. Over the following decades, it was successively attached to Throckmorton, Mitchell, Scurry, and Borden counties for judicial purposes before becoming fully organized and independent on July 5, 1907.
