History
Formed in 1876 from Young County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Lynn was created from Young Territory on November 19, 1876, but remained unorganized and attached to Young County for judicial and other purposes. Over the following decades, Lynn was transferred between adjacent counties for judicial administration: Young, Throckmorton, Howard, Mitchell, Crosby, and finally Lubbock. On April 7, 1903, Lynn was finally fully organized and detached from Lubbock County to operate independently.
