History
Formed in 1876 from Knox County and Young County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
King County was created from Knox County and Young Territory in 1876 but remained unorganized and attached to Young County for judicial and other purposes. In 1881, King County was detached from Young County and attached to Baylor County for judicial purposes, then in 1887 it was attached to Knox County instead. King County became fully organized and independent in 1891.
