History
Formed in 1858 from Palo Pinto County, Coryell County and Bosque County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Eastland County was created from Palo Pinto, with portions attached to Coryell and Bosque counties. Initially not fully organized, the county was attached to Comanche County for judicial purposes in 1860, then to Palo Pinto County in 1870. Eastland County was fully organized and detached from Palo Pinto on December 2, 1873. Callahan County was temporarily attached to Eastland for judicial purposes in 1876 before being organized and detached in 1877.
