History
Formed in 1858 from Bosque County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Taylor County was created from Bosque Land District, Bexar Land District, Travis Land District, Young Territory, and a small part of non-county area, but was not fully organized initially. It was attached to other counties for judicial purposes—Comanche in 1860, then Palo Pinto in 1870, then Shackelford in 1875. The county lost territory to the creation of Nolan County in 1876, and was finally fully organized on July 3, 1878.
