History
Formed in 1876 from Clay County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Roberts County was created from Bexar Territory on November 19, 1876, but was not fully organized at that time, remaining attached to Clay County for judicial and surveying purposes. Over the following decades, Roberts County was successively attached to Wheeler County, then fully organized in January 1889, and had other counties temporarily attached to it for judicial purposes before those counties organized independently.
