An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Guadalupe County was created from Bexar, Gonzales, and Travis counties, though it was not fully organized until August 7, 1846. The county was named after the Guadalupe River. Guadalupe lost territory to Comal and Hays counties in 1858, and to Wilson County in 1874.
