An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Union County was created from Cherokee County in 1832. In 1854 and 1856, Union County lost land to the creation of Fannin County and Towns County. Further adjustments occurred in 1874 when Union County lost additional territory to Towns County.
