History
Formed in 1832 from Cherokee County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Forsyth County was created from Cherokee County and named after John Forsyth. Through the 19th century, the county gained and lost small areas in boundary adjustments with neighboring counties, most notably losing territory to Milton County when it was created in 1858.
