Founded in 1821
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Henry County was created from non-county area in 1821 and named after Patrick Henry. In its early years, the county gained land from Walton County but lost territory to the creation of Newton, DeKalb, Butts, Pike, and Spalding counties through the 1850s.
