History

Formed in 1808 from Laurens County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Pulaski County was created from Laurens County on December 13, 1808, and named after Casimir Pulaski. The county's boundaries shifted throughout the 19th century, gaining and losing land to neighboring counties including Dooly, Houston, Jasper, Telfair, Wilcox, and Montgomery, with the most significant change occurring in 1857 when it lost territory to the creation of Wilcox County.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries; the 5 that matter most are shown first.
