An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Dodge County was named after William E. Dodge. After its creation from Montgomery, Pulaski, and Telfair counties, Dodge County had its boundaries adjusted multiple times, losing and gaining territory to Pulaski and Telfair between 1872 and 1915.
