History

Formed in 1854 from Marion County and Muscogee County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Created from Marion and Muscogee counties in 1854, Chattahoochee County went through several boundary adjustments in the decades that followed. Between 1856 and 1876, the county exchanged land with neighboring Muscogee, Stewart, and Marion counties, gaining some areas while losing others to accommodate changing property lines.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries; the 5 that matter most are shown first.
