History

Formed in 1856 from Carroll County and Polk County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Haralson County was created from Carroll and Polk counties by an act passed on January 26, 1856, and took effect on February 1, 1856. The county has experienced several boundary changes since its formation, including losing land to Carroll in 1860, gaining land from Paulding in 1862, exchanging territory with Carroll in 1873, and losing land to Polk by the end of 1952.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
