History

Formed in 1852 from Macon County, Marion County and Talbot County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Taylor County was named after Zachary Taylor and created from Macon, Marion, and Talbot counties in 1852. Between 1852 and 1869, the county's boundaries were adjusted several times through exchanges and transfers of land with neighboring counties including Macon, Marion, Crawford, and Schley.
