History

Formed in 1828 from Lee. County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Randolph County was named after John Randolph of Roanoke. The county has been adjusted multiple times: it lost territory to the creation of Stewart County in 1830, gained it back in 1833, and later lost land to the creation of Clay, Calhoun, and Terrell Counties.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries; the 5 that matter most are shown first.
