History
Formed in 1821 from Caldwell County, Livingston County, Calloway County, Graves County and McCracken County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Hickman County was created from Caldwell and Livingston counties, with Calloway, Graves, and McCracken initially attached but later organized and detached. The county was named after Paschal Hickman. Hickman lost territory to the creation of Ballard in 1842 and Fulton in 1845, then regained a portion from Ballard in 1854.
