History

Formed in 1793 from Bourbon County and Fayette County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Clark County was created on February 1, 1793, from Bourbon and Fayette counties. In 1797, the county lost territory to the creation of Montgomery County, but gained territory from Bourbon County in 1798. Additional territory was lost in 1808 to the creation of Estill County and in 1852 to the creation of Powell County.
