History

Formed in 1822 from Floyd County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Pike County was created from Floyd County on March 1, 1822. Over the following decades, it exchanged small areas with neighboring counties including Floyd, Lawrence, Martin, and Letcher, with the most significant change occurring in 1870 when it lost territory to the creation of Martin County.
