History

Formed in 1823 from Bath County and Floyd County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Morgan County was created in 1823 from Bath and Floyd Counties. Over the following decades, it gained territory from Floyd, Lawrence, and Powell Counties, but also lost land to the formation of Rowan, Magoffin, and Wolfe Counties.
