History

Formed in 1799 from Christian County and Logan County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Muhlenberg County was created from Christian and Logan counties in 1799, named after Peter Muhlenberg. The county gained territory from Christian County in 1800 and from Butler County in 1890, but lost land to the creation of McLean County in 1854.
