History

Formed in 1799 from Campbell County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Boone County was created from Campbell County on June 1, 1799, and named after Daniel Boone. The county gained territory from Gallatin County in 1820, lost it back in 1837, and lost additional territory to Grant County in 1870.
