History
Formed in 1823 from Henry County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
The county was named after the Obion River. Obion gained and lost territory to Weakley County through several boundary adjustments between 1867 and 1889, and lost area to the creation of Lake County in 1870.
