An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Jackson County was named after Andrew Jackson. After its creation, Jackson County experienced several boundary adjustments with Rockcastle County, losing territory in 1861 and 1865, gaining a small area in 1873, and losing again in 1882.
