History

Formed in 1800 from Bourbon County and Mason County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Nicholas County was created from Bourbon and Mason on June 1, 1800. Between 1816 and 1867, the county lost land to the creation of Fleming, Harrison, Robertson, and Bracken Counties, and gained land from Bourbon, Harrison, and Fleming.
