History

Formed in 1799 from Christian County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Henderson County was created on May 15, 1799 from Christian County and named after Richard Henderson. The county lost territory to the creation of Hopkins County in 1807 and Union County in 1811, gained territory from Ohio County in 1809, and lost additional territory to Daviess County and Webster County in 1860.
