History
Formed in 1818 from Wayne County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Macomb County was created by Michigan Territory from Wayne County on January 15, 1818. The county was named after Alexander Macomb. Macomb lost territory to the creation of Oakland County in 1820 and to the creation of St. Clair County in 1821, but gained territory back from St. Clair County in 1822 and again in 1833.
