History
Formed in 1831 from Kalamazoo County and Oakland County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Gladwin was created by Michigan Territory on March 2, 1831, from parts of Kalamazoo and Oakland counties. It remained unorganized and was attached to Saginaw in 1836 for judicial purposes, then attached to Midland in 1855. Gladwin became fully organized and independent in 1875 when it detached from Midland.
