History
Formed in 1821 from Pike County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Ralls County was created from Pike County on January 1, 1821. In 1822, Ralls lost territory to the creation of Marion County, though Marion was temporarily attached to Ralls for administrative purposes until Marion became fully organized in 1826. Between 1829 and 1837, Ralls lost substantial territory to the creation of five new counties: Randolph, Monroe, Audrain, and Macon, while also gaining territory from Pike County in 1829.
