History
Formed in 1819 from St. Charles County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Pike County was created by the Missouri Territory in 1819 from St. Charles County, and initially included land in present-day Iowa. In 1821, the county lost territory to the creation of Chariton County and Ralls County, and was eliminated from Iowa. Pike further lost land to Ralls County in 1829.
