History

Formed in 1843 from Stoddard County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

When created in 1843, Dunklin County was not fully organized and was attached to Stoddard County for all civil, military, and judicial purposes. The county was fully organized and detached from Stoddard County on February 14, 1845. Dunklin County gained territory from New Madrid County in 1849 and from Stoddard County in 1853.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
