History
Formed in 1831 from Ralls County, Callaway County and Monroe County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Audrain County was created from Ralls County and other non-county areas, though parts were initially attached to Callaway, Monroe, and Ralls for civil and military purposes. It was fully organized and detached from those counties on December 17, 1836. The county was named after James Hunter Audrain.
