History

Formed in 1821 from Franklin County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Gasconade County was created from Franklin County in 1821. The county is named after the Gasconade River. Over its early years, the county's boundaries shifted as Non-County Area 8 was attached and detached, eventually lost to the creation of Crawford County in 1829 and the creation of Osage County in 1841.
