History

Formed in 1867 from Riley County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Trego County was created from Riley County but was not fully organized at its formation. From 1868 to 1879, Trego was attached to Ellis County for judicial purposes until it was fully organized on June 21, 1879. Between 1881 and 1889, Gove, Wallace, and Logan counties were temporarily attached to Trego for judicial purposes before each became fully organized and detached.
